More Than Miracles
W/M Dennis C Wheeler
HE wore a long white robe and sandals
And he spoke of peace and love,
With a face and eyes that pierced you soul
He was the chosen son of GOD.
He said the meek would share the kingdom
And that our hurting caused Him pain
And with a cross and nails
And thorns and jeers
They tried to douse the flame...
He said they don't know who I am
Father they aren't sure who you are
And it will take much more than miracles
To turn these lives around...
They are afraid of life and what it holds
that can make each day one without hope
For the daily news can make it seem
That you are far away and can't be seen
They are afraid of one another
and they can't quite get along
There is pride and scorn and prejudice,
And Satan's thirst for power
He said they don't know who I am
Father they aren't sure who you are
And it will take much more than miracles
To turn these lives around...
He looked out over us and weeping,
With a thirst for righteousness
Every stranger is your neighbor,
You can't greet them with a fist,
We are all GOD's only children
And we are different by design
And it won't be until we come to GOD
that we will realize
That we must live our lives like Jesus
And get to know just who you are
And it will take much more than miracles
To turn these lives around
For it will take much more than miracles
To turn these lives around.....

More Than Miracles
Jesus drew a huge volume of people following him around the countryside of Jerusalem and Nazareth and Judah and much more to have relatives and friends, brought before him to offer miracles of cures for their various illnesses and that of others. The shear magnitude of people was often overhelming. The talk developed into "This must be the Messiah. The Christ, even The King that would remove the Romans.
The Jewish Pharacies and the Sadducees were the political entities of Jesus' time. It was determined that Jesus was becoming too threatening to their power base and something must be done to discourage his growing popularity. It was determined that Crucifiction would be sufficient.
This song is a simple song of a discussion that Jesus may have had with GOD as it all played out.
